Door of Hope: a Special Place of Faith, Hope and Love - selected by Lucky from the 947 Greg & Lucky Drive Show.
Nelson Mandela said: "History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children". The greatest thing in this life is love - love has the power to heal and transform lives. The Door of Hope has grown from this belief!
The Door of Hope is a Non-Profit, Public Benefit and Faith-Based Organisation which helps children from deprived and underprivileged communities, survive and thrive through faith, hope and love. Each child is seen as unique and special, and given the opportunity to grow to their full potential by providing an environment filled with care, love, support and good nutrition.
The dream team at the Door of Hope try their utmost best to reunite abandoned babies with their biological family. However, if this is not possible, they believe that the next best option is to find a loving home and family for the child in need of support and love.
Door of Hope is committed to develop children in 5 key areas: Character, Competence, Calling, Confidence and Courage. Their mission is: Saving Abandoned Babies, Bringing Children Home, Building People of Character and Bridging a Better World. The organisation helps to build survival skills and install a sense of right and wrong, dignity, honor, good morals, skills and confidence for children to lead productive lives.
Door of Hope feel that, "Our world needs people of character. If we can raise a generation of world changes, we can make this world a better place".
Over the last 19 years of its existence, Door of Hope has helped an astounding 1625 babies, facilitated 673 adoptions and currently have 70 babies in their care. This organisation strives to make a lasting impact and believes every child matters and every life is precious. In the words of Kira Mortenson, "It doesn't matter how your children get to your family. It just matters that they get there."
Statistics of orphans in South Africa, reflect a very sad picture: 2 out of 7 of the 18.5 million children are orphans, that is a shocking 5.2 million children.
Door of Hope is an incredible organisation which aims to break the cycle of poverty and abandonment, and change our planet one child at a time!
