The Mega Millions Game
Introduction To Mega Millions Game
One of America’s biggest multi-state lotteries, the Mega Millions have massive prizes and is MEGA fun. American residents can play in 43 states and, as of 2016, South Africans can bet on this lotto exclusively through LottoStar.
The Mega Millions started in August of 1996 as the Big Game, and the first draw took place on the 6th of September. An extra draw was added only two years later, and players were given a larger choice of numbers. In January of 1998 a “cash payout” option was added for players, and a rebrand took place in 2002 when the game became the now well-known Mega Millions.
In 2012, the game made history by paying out the largest prize in any jackpot game: $656 million, which was split three ways. The number was only surpassed in January of 2016.
Playing is extremely easy: players pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers – five different numbers from 1 - 75, and one number from 1 – 15. Players also have the option of using the Quick Pick function. The jackpot is won by matching all six winning numbers in a draw.
Draws are held in Atlanta, Georgia, every Tuesday and Friday at 23h00 EST which equates to Wednesday and Saturday at 06h00 (GMT+2). The latest Mega Millions results are made available shortly after each draw.
