At LottoStar, fortune isn’t just about winnings and life-changing payouts. It’s about the power of transforming wins into something greater – hope, healing and opportunity. Through The Star Foundation, our platform for social impact, we’ve partnered with remarkable organisations that are rewriting the story of communities across South Africa.
Through your support, we’ve been able to back initiatives that truly change lives. Here’s how:
Save7 – When One Life Ends, Seven More Begin
Through the May Money Madness competition with KFM, LottoStar players raised R1,067,500 for Save7, a groundbreaking organisation changing the way South Africa approaches organ donation.
Save7 transforms organ donation into a lasting legacy. Their Time Capsule initiative lets individuals record voice messages for loved ones, preserving their donor wishes in the most personal way. With your support, funds raised helped equip the LifePod ICU, a specialised unit where one life saved can give up to seven others a second chance. Because of you, futures will be restored, families will find comfort, and more lives will go on.
Good Morning Angels – From Compassion to Cure
During LottoStar’s Fortune Frenzy competition with Jacaranda FM, our players helped raise R1,024,000 for Good Morning Angels, a long-standing beacon of hope for South Africans in crisis.
R697,000 was used to purchase a cutting-edge laser treatment machine for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, giving young burn victims a chance at healing and recovery. The remainder contributed support Good Morning Angels’ life-changing projects, including endometriosis care, surgery for choledochal cysts and helping a woman with severe vision impairment regain the gift of sight – ensuring compassion reaches those who need it most.
These aren’t just stories of aid—they are stories of renewed dignity, courage, and second chances.
Groote Schuur Hospital – Urgent Care Without Delay
South Africa’s public hospitals face immense pressure, especially in emergency care. To help bridge this critical gap, LottoStar donated R1.8 million to Groote Schuur Hospital’s Emergency Fund for Emergency Surgery (EFES).
This support enables 70 additional emergency theatre surgeries over the next year, particularly during high-traffic periods like weekends and public holidays when trauma cases spike. Every theatre list funded means another patient seen in time, another life saved, and another family spared loss.
Gift of the Givers – Water, Health, and Hope
Through the Woza Win competition with Ukhozi FM, LottoStar players raised R879,000 for Gift of the Givers, one of Africa’s most trusted humanitarian organisations.
These funds provided 1,758 Pure Flow Amanzi water filter buckets, each sustaining up to five people with clean drinking water for two years. Designed to be gravity-powered and electricity-free, these filters remove 99.99% of harmful bacteria, delivering a simple yet revolutionary solution to South Africa’s urgent water crisis.
This is more than water, it’s dignity, health, and hope delivered, one bucket at a time.
The Star Foundation – Uplifting the Nation Together
Behind each of these initiatives stands The Star Foundation, LottoStar’s commitment to building a stronger, more compassionate South Africa. From healthcare and education to food security and emergency relief, the Foundation is built on a single belief: when we uplift others, we uplift the nation.
And none of this would be possible without you, our players and partners. Together, you’ve shown that games can spark more than just fortune. They can spark change.
