One lucky person became Australia’s newest multimillionaire - on Tuesday, a woman from North Sydney, Australia, won the $50 million (R587 million in South Africa) Oz Lotto jackpot. The woman, who has remained anonymous realised that she was the winner after checking the Oz Lotto results online. She revealed that this was the first lottery ticket that she has ever purchased. Talk about beginner’s luck!

The anonymous winner bought the winning ticket whilst on holiday in Sussex. “We’ve been on holidays in Sussex Inlet and my friend called me just before and said to me “I think the news agency you bought your Oz Lotto ticket from sold the $50 million winning entry”.

The winner was in absolute disbelief when she realised that she had just won $50 million and said, “my heart was beating so hard and felt like I could have a heart attack”. The new multimillionaire has not decided on how she will be spending her millions but has said that she will not give up her day job and wild continue working as normal.“I’m still just so shocked. I think I will be so shocked for a long time. I’ll definitely keep working, but oh my goodness, I just don’t know!”, exclaimed the lucky winner.

The owner of the store where the winning ticket was bought was extremely happy for the lucky winner and “hopes that she will continue her holiday in Sussex Inlet”.

This is the biggest Oz Lotto winner in 2020 so far and it is estimated that 1 in 6 Australian adults had bought a lotto ticket for Tuesday night’s draw. The winning numbers for the draw were 12-9-13-7-32-5-4 and the supplementary numbers were 19 and 35.
