“Our health workers are like soldiers who go to war. They must be well trained, well-armed and well protected. We want them to be confident that they are well trained, that they understand how they don’t get infected and how they protect others,” said Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize.

Our healthcare workers continue their fight to save many lives. However, they are now faced with the challenge of shortages of surgical masks to protect themselves from getting infected by Covid-19. To date, over 500 South African healthcare workers are reported to have tested positive for Covid-19, 26 hospitalised and sadly, two have succumbed to the virus according to the report by the Health Minister.

LottoStar acknowledges the fight and challenges that health care workers across the country face each day, therefore, we have joined hands with Shout4Masks to sponsor and equip health care workers with 50,000 CE certified 3-ply surgical masks – N95 or PP2E masks.

LottoStar donated R500,000 through the Premium Platinum Package offered by Shout4Masks, an initiative by Shout SA and other well-known organizations. Organisations and individuals can choose between the different corporate packages offered by Shout4Masks to raise funds for medically approved masks for health care workers. The packages offered are the Gold Package, Hospital Combo Pack, Silver Package, Platinum Package and Premium Platinum Package.

“All masks are imported from CE certified medically approved factories”, according to Shout4Masks.

Even superheroes need help sometimes. Therefore, whether you are an individual or a company, there's a way to lend a helping hand. For more information on how to donate, please visit Shout4Masks.
