Save the Children South Africa works everyday to provide children with a good start in life and the opportunity to be protected from violence, quality education and health and nutrition.

1919: Eglantyne Jebb, the woman who began Save the Children and changed the narrative and the world's response to children in need. On 19 May 1919, Eglantyne Jebb initiated a worldwide movement - the Save the Children Fund. This initiative was propelled by her belief that "all children have the right to a healthy, happy and fulfilling life.".
1923: Jebb drafted what would be a long term improvement to children's lives and their right, the first Declaration of the Rights of a Child. This was the foundation of her work and a key facet to the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of a child.
1944: work began in South Africa by Save the Children in the smallest communities of this nation.
2013: Save the Children South Africa was formed in the fight for local children's rights.
Supporting Save the Children South Africa assists in the fights against violence towards children, education and the absence of disease through health and nutrition.
