The World's Most Expensive Coastal Real Estate!

Sandbanks in Poole Harbour, Dorset, is the most expensive stretch of coastal real estate in the world! This 850ft long road consists of 13 harbourside mansions valued at £93 million, all with gorgeous sea views.

Sandbanks is a small area crossing the mouth of Poole Harbour which is located in Dorset England. It is renowned for its beach and property values, and has been given the name 'Britain's Palm Beach'.

"People have a misconception of Sandbanks" says Steve Isaacs, director at Lloyds Property Group, "it's a glitzy, 'footballer's wife' sort of place. But the truth is people come and live here because we have a relaxed life. It is a beautiful place."

Sandbanks was developed extensively over the years, starting in 1880 with a solitary hotel which served as a getaway for guests - the development took off in the 1960s when a proper roadway and highway linked the peninsula to the mainland and made it more accessible to holidaymakers and daytrippers. Sand dunes were gradually flattened. Smart marketing in the 90s by local estate agents transformed the area into millionaire's row.

The first property magnate, a wealthy banker, built 8 homes on the peninsula - one for each of his children. Descendants of the family still own one of the properties today. Other notable residences include Graeme Souness, a retired footballer and manager, now a media commentator, Harry Redknapp, former manager of Portsmouth F.C., Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers.

John Lennon's aunt bought him his first guitar. He repaid her back in 1965 with a beautiful house at Sandbanks and paid around £25,000. Today the stand alone is worth over £4 MILLION. Recently a mock-Tudor mansion was sold for £6,9 million in 2015, now valued at £10 million after renovation. Another wealthy owner was Lord Leonard Lyle MP, the chairman of sugar giant Tate Lyle.

A key attraction at Sandbanks, where houses average £8 million, is that it is very private, especially on the harbor side. In addition, one is able to travel to London in two hours. The uncertainty of Brixit has heightened the need to own property outside London in areas such as Sandbanks.
