How do you feel about winning R250 000?

Absolutely fantastic! I honestly just looked at it and thought, this can’t be right. I looked again and saw that it was right. It was a bit surreal, I had to ask my wife if I was seeing the correct amount as I didn’t have my glasses on and she said, yes, you’re seeing properly.

What was your first reaction when you found out that you had won R250 000?

It was utter awe. I’ve never won a big amount of money before; it was really a big surprise for me. My mind ran wild and I started to think about what I was going to do with the money. Eventually, I settled down and told myself; you must use the money for what you need it for.

What are you going to do with your winnings?

We don’t really have any specific plans; my wife and I have decided that it would probably go towards paying off some stuff.

Did you have a feeling that you would be a winner?

I did. I placed a bet a week ago and I think I won about R30 000. I said to my wife it comes in threes. So, we will have to wait and see what the third one will be.

Who was the first person you shared the exciting news with and what was their reaction?

My wife. I said to her I think I won R50 000, but I wasn’t sure. So, I asked her to check for me and she said, no, it is not! Did you check with your glasses, she asked? Then she told me how much it was, and I said are you serious?
