Lambano Sanctuary is a non-governmental organization established in 2001 that assists individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

During the period it was established, there were at least 4,1 million South Africans living with HIV/AIDS.

The sanctuary specializes in providing care for children living with HIV. In addition, they provide support for their families by meeting their basic needs.

There are currently four Lambano Sanctuary homes caring for 28 HIV-positive children between the ages of 11 and 22. Antiretroviral (ARV) medication is offered in these homes for the children.

As a result of their experience caring for sick children, the sanctuary will be opening a paediatric medical facility in Gauteng. This facility will be exclusively for children living with HIV.

Lambano Sanctuary relies heavily on donations. LottoStar and The Star Foundation aim to raise R4 Million which will contribute towards the costs of the medical facility.

LottoStar's The Star Foundation Raises Funds for Lambano Sanctuary

If “I’m here for a good time, not a long time” was a person, it would be Colin Weir. Colin is one of the biggest winners of the EuroMillions draw in UK history. He won a record-breaking £161 Million (R35 Billion) in the EuroMillions draw and blew £50 Million (R1,07 Billion) in 8 years.

It is said that he spent at least £100,000 (R2,2 Million) per week. His splurges included luxury property, cars, horses and sporting investments, as a football fan, Colin purchased a 55% stake in the Patrick Thistle Football Club prior to his death and shared an estimated £50 Million (R1,07 Billion) amongst family, friends, trust funds and charity.


However, his winnings were not enough to buy him good health and happiness in his marriage. He was suffering from kidney failure and divorced his wife of 38 years.

Prior to his death, he spared no expense and threw a lavish £1 Million (R21,5 Million) “funeral party” for his family and close friends as a final parting gift.

A close friend of Colin's, who was at the lavish event, told the Daily Record: “Colin was certain before he died that he wanted to give his friends a great party to remember him by. So, he booked out one of the biggest rooms at the Trump Turnberry hotel and treated all his friends to the biggest and grandest party any of us had ever seen. It was amazing.”
Guests were treated to lobster, truffle soup and champagne worth £304 (R6,540) per bottle.


A financial expert said: “Spending £40 Million in eight years takes a bit of doing but it is likely to have mostly gone into setting up trusts for his family and other interests. What he left behind seems to be a very sensible, safe portfolio.”

EuroMillions winner blew £40m by spending £100K a week

She then left and moved into a new 5-bedroom home that he had helped her pick out.


It all started when Laura declined Kirk’s proposal. He suggested that there were more red flags in their relationship than he wanted to realize at the time. He said: “We’d both been married before and when we first got together, Laura told me she wasn’t bothered about tying the knot again.


The former couple made headlines by posing with a lottery cheque written in both their names, even though Laura was the official winner. Camelot confirmed that despite the names on the fake cheque used for publicity, all Set For Life winnings are paid to an individual, even in a syndicate. The winning account used belonged to Laura.

Laura has now cut him off from the jackpot loot, taken their two dogs and asked him how much she owed in rent for all the months she had accumulated.

LottoStar in support of The Star Foundation is collaborating with Kfm 94.5 on a 12-month campaign to raise funds for Project Flamingo.

The campaign commenced in October 2022 and will end in November 2023.



 is a non-profit company that strives to improve inclusive cancer care in the South African public health sector by providing the scarce resources needed for breast cancer surgery. Surgeries are done by selfless doctors who volunteer their time, every Saturday.

They avail themselves to patients who need surgery at the following hospitals – Groote Schuur, Tygerberg, Livingstone and Cecilia Makiwane hospitals.

Women diagnosed with breast cancer who have been awaiting surgery for at least 1 year are listed as future recipients of Project Flamingo. This is to ensure that the process is fair.

The waiting list for 2023 consists of 200 women from the Eastern Cape and Western Cape awaiting surgery.

Each surgery costs at least R6,000.

LottoStar’s The Star Foundation will be donating R1,2 Million to Project Flamingo which will go towards all 200 women receiving life-changing surgery.
