It's up to you to conduct some research and make sure that the betting site is secure. Here are a few things to keep an eye out for:

The site should have a valid license from a governing body.

The site should be secure, with encryption technology to protect your personal information.

It is vitally important to create a strong password. A strong password should have a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols and be at least eight characters long. Avoid using words that are easily guessed, such as your name or birthday.

LottoStar offers an extensive number of payment options such as credit/debit cards, EFT, SnapScan, Adumo, PayFast and vouchers. On LottoStar, paying for your bets has never been simpler or safer.

LottoStar acknowledges that governments' and community groups' concerns about people who gamble for reasons other than entertainment and who develop a financial or personal problem that affects not only the player but also their family and friends, thus promotes responsible betting at all times.

New to the world of online betting?

On Wednesday, 1 June 2022, LottoStar and Kfm 94.5 hosted a 12-hour radiothon to raise money for the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA), a non-profit organization devoted to alleviating hunger among schoolchildren in the Western Cape.

After LottoStar's May Money Madness competition ended with Kfm 94.5, the #FeedingOurFuture radiothon was launched after realizing there were still 14,736 schoolchildren in need of assistance.

The initial goal was to raise R8 million for 14,736 children in 12 hours. However, the support was overwhelming and before midday, we had reached our goal thanks to the generous donations of ordinary citizens, small businesses, large corporations, and charities across the country.

Therefore, the new target of R16 Million was set but by 3pm, we had surpassed the R16 million threshold.

At the 12-hour mark, we had raised a total of R20 Million, making it the biggest amount of money raised in a 12-hour period for a radio station in South Africa.

From the R20 Million that was raised in the radiothon, PSFA will be able to provide food for more than 30,000 schoolchildren for a year, all thanks to your generous donations. By coming together, we made history and a positive impact on the lives of schoolchildren in the Western Cape.

Charity is our priviledge, not an obligation.

Cryptocurrency, a progressive payment system, has now made its way to the world of online betting.

According to the Bitcoin Strip, online players place close to 337 bets per second using cryptocurrency. The statistics indicate that this technology has been widely accepted in the online betting industry.Although several online betting platforms offer more traditional methods of payment, some are open to introducing the use of cryptocurrency.

As the world of online betting evolves, new techniques are introduced by various operators to attract new customers. Cryptocurrency is increasingly becoming popular; therefore, online betting companies are forging ahead with accepting it as a form of payment. Several online betting platforms in the USA now allow players to deposit and win in Bitcoin allowing players to deposit or withdraw their winnings within a couple of minutes.

With cryptocurrency increasingly becoming popular, LottoStar has introduced Crypto Mania, an exciting ScratchCard game where players could stand a chance to win cryptocurrency to store in their digital wallets or a cash payout.

Tuesday’s EuroMillions draw winner surpassed the previous record-holder, who won £140 Million (over R2,3 Billion) in October, 2019.

A UK based individual has won the £184 Million (over R3,1 Billion) EuroMillions payout which resulted in them becoming the UK’s biggest lottery winner. However, no one has come forward to claim the prize.

The winning EuroMillions numbers were 3, 25, 27, 28 and 29, plus the Lucky Star numbers 4 and 9, thus only one ticket matched all seven numbers to win a total of £184 Million (over R3,1 Billion) of the prize money. The win instantly placed the winner at the top of The National Lottery’s top payout list.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Adviser at The National Lottery, said: “What an amazing night for one UK ticketholder who has scooped the incredible £184m (over R3,1 Billion) EuroMillions jackpot. They have become the UK’s biggest ever national lottery winner.” He urges players to check their tickets and to step forward if they believe they’re the lucky winner.

According to The National Lottery, only 14 players have ever won a payout of over £100 Million (over R1,1 Billion), with the last winners being a couple, Frances and Patrick Connolly. It is said that the couple has given away half of their winnings to charity.

Frances states that she gets a ‘buzz’ from being able to change people’s lives for the better, adding: “I’m addicted to it now.”

Do you want to become the newest multi-millionaire in town too? Simply, match 5 lucky numbers and 2 bonus numbers by placing your bets on our EuroMillions draw taking place every Tuesday and Friday night, at 20:00 in South Africa.

brings our “May Money Madness” competition with

, to the Western Cape, from the 9th to the 27th of May 2022. In the 3 weeks of the competition, we will be raising money for the

Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA)

Buzz Aldrin once said, “If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger”, which is PSFA’s mission. PSFA’s mission is to eradicate childhood hunger by feeding hungry school children across the Western Cape. In its 64 years of operation, 170 educational institutions are on their feeding programme. To date, PSFA has provided over two billion meals to school children across the Western Cape.

Three out of four children go hungry due to poverty constraints and food insecurity, leading to malnutrition. Children who are malnourished are likely to experience illnesses, due to poor immune systems later linked to life-threatening diseases in their adult life.

Hunger affects children’s learning by restraining physical development, holding back their ability to focus and perform, and inhibiting children from attending school.

Children need nourishment so that they may grow and develop. The Peninsula School Feeding Association provides balanced meals, packed with nutrition across all food groups for breakfast and lunch, which enables children to develop their full potential, as well as promoting school attendance as children may focus on their studies, instead of focusing on the fact that they are hungry or where their next meal will come from.

Civilians can get involved by donating to PSFA’s various programmes, such as “Feed A Child for A Month”, “Feed A Child for A Year” and the like. Society at large can join in the fight to curb hunger, with the knowledge that their contribution will make a difference.

Please visit PSFA for more information on how to donate or support their various programmes.

In the second week, players will be playing Lightning Roulette with one of the Kfm 94.5’s presenters to stand a chance to win a share of R1 Million in cash, daily, for themselves and for the Peninsula School Feeding Association.

To say the second week of the competition was a success would be an understatement. A total of R376,500 was raised for the PSFA. Schools that will be benefiting are Capricorn Primary, Tuscany Glen Primary, Stephen Road Primary and Sunnyside Primary.

We are now in the final week of the May Money Madness competition with Kfm 94.5. Players will be playing Beat the Bomb Deluxe to stand a chance to win a share of R1 Million in cash, daily, for themselves and the Peninsula School Feeding Association.

It’s a wrap from LottoStar’s May Money Madness competition with Kfm 94.5. A total of R451,750 was won by our lucky players and R758,750 was raised for the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) which will feed 1,331 children for a year. Our goal is to raise R8 Million to feed 14,035 schoolchildren for a year, LottoStar will match every rand donated, up to R4 Million.

LOTTOSTAR’S MAY MONEY MADNESS CONTRIBUTES TO HUNGER CAUSE!

“One stupid mistake can change everything”. Imagine a simple mistake resulting in a million-dollar payout. Lotteries rely heavily on randomness; however, an Iowa resident matched the first 5 numbers on a Mega Millions draw and won $1 Million (R15 664 950,00 in South Africa) over what he believes was a clerical mistake.

Josh Buster won a life-changing $1 Million (R15 664 950,00) in the Mega Millions draw after a simple mistake was made by a store cashier. Buster asked for five ‘easy ticket plays’ for the Mega Millions on one ticket. However, the cashier mistakenly printed out one play ticket but after recognizing her mistake, she offered to print out 4 additional plays on a different ticket.

"I feel like that changed the numbers that I would have gotten if she had put them all on one instead of making that mistake,” Buster said. The Mega Millions ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Mega Ball which would have resulted in a $20 million (R313 298 953,01) jackpot win.

Nonetheless, Buster is pleased with his fortune as he is a skeptic who does not believe in luck. On the contrary, he believes that the mistake resulted in a million-dollar cheque.

According to the Mega Millions website, the probability of winning $1 Million was 1 in 12,607,306.

Josh, a prep cook, intends to pay off his car and his mother’s mortgage and then invest the rest of the winnings in his retirement.

“No more of the financial worries,” he exclaimed.

Luck may be on your side too. Place your bets on LottoStar’s Mega Millions draw taking place every Wednesday and Saturday, at 5:30am in South Africa.

There are endless possibilities to win payouts of over R800 Million with our major lotteries.

How does it feel being East London’s newest multi-millionaire?

I am still in disbelief. I feel like I’m dreaming.

How did it feel when you found out you won R25 million?

I couldn't believe it until you guys called me to confirm it. I thought I had won R25,000. I jumped out of my bed.

Who was the first person you told? And how did they react?

I told my fiancée. She also couldn't believe it because she stays in Cape Town because of work. She had to come down to East London because it took some time for me to realize that I won

I am not that type of person. It took some time for it to click. I am still processing the fact that I won. It’s only becoming a reality now.

My fiancée can now come live in East London, which is a huge relief. I plan on paying off debt and living debt-free. I will probably buy a car and invest the rest of the winnings.

donates R100,000 to creche owner, Tanya van Rooyen, whose house was tragically destroyed on Sunday by a fire.

“Everything burned down within 10 to 15 minutes”, cried Tanya.

During her struggle to open the door, Tanya didn't realize that her house had caught fire when she returned home from work on Sunday. The fire quickly spread to the point of a devastating explosion after she opened the door.

Unfortunately, Tanya was not able to do anything but watch her house burn down with everything inside, leaving her destitute.

Tanya’s tragedy moved us as we listened to her story on

Tanya's creche is also on the same property as her house and it wasn't badly damaged because her neighbours jumped in and extinguished the fire. Nonetheless, it will remain closed for the remainder of the week because of the amount of smoke inside.

In October last year, Tanya’s creche in Boksburg, made the news when her neighbours acquired two white tigers and kept them in their backyard overlooking the creche. The teachers at the creche got a shock when they looked up and saw a white tiger watching them. This made Tanya reach out to different organizations including 947 for help.

Therefore, when the station decided to do a follow-up on her story, they were met with tragic news. During the radio segment, Jo’burgers called in to offer support to the inconsolable Tanya.

LottoStar’s leading lady, Tasoulla Hurwitz, was also amongst them and gave a contribution of R100,000 to support Tanya.

We hope that the contribution will assist Tanya in rebuilding everything she has lost.

Did you know there are strange lotteries that take place around the world? As opposed to your traditional lotteries where you can win payouts, these lotteries have crazy prizes as their jackpots or a unique aspect to them.

One would swear Homer Simpson came up with this whole idea. This brings a whole new meaning to bringing home the bacon. The Indiana State Lottery came up with the out-of-the-box idea. The ScratchCard game releases the delightful aroma of bacon when a player scratches the card.

Premium beer is brewed in limited batches. Getting your hands on it can become such an impossible mission. Citra Double IPA from Kern River brewery in California is one of the rarest beers in the world and because of that, the creators decided to create a beer lottery.

In Stockholm, Sweden, they take safe driving very seriously. Street cameras take pictures of the license plates of all drivers. Good news for the drivers that obey the rules, they qualify for the chance to win a portion of the money amassed from speeding fines. This lottery has multiple interesting benefits such as rewarding safe driving and reducing irresponsible driving.

The lottery takes place in the USA, with only 55,000 green cards available per year, making the lottery quite competitive. This gives people from other countries an opportunity to win a chance to apply for permanent citizenship.

There are many more unusual lotteries out there, and their popularity is based on how desirable the prize is.

At the end of the day, cash will always be king.

You don’t have to follow strange trends to become a winner with Lottostar. Simply place a bet on our

lotteries for a chance to win over R800 Million in payouts.

There’s something about the final few months of the year that changes the energy. It’s warmer outside, calendars are starting to fill up, and the festive season is moving into view. For many people, it’s also a time of celebrations, holidays and a little more downtime but with all that extra excitement comes a good reason to check in with yourself - especially when it comes to your betting habits.

At LottoStar, betting is intended to be entertaining. That means knowing your limits, understanding your habits and making sure that betting stays as something you enjoy.

One of the simplest ways to stay in control is to decide what you’re comfortable spending before you place a bet - and stick to it.

Setting a budget helps keep your betting within your means, while setting yourself a time limit can help make sure it doesn't take over your daily routine. And if you’ve had a loss, remember that trying to win it back by increasing your bets can quickly turn a small setback into something bigger.

Sometimes betting responsibly starts with something as simple as asking yourself a few questions. Are you still betting simply because you’re enjoying it? Are you spending more time or money than you intended?

These are the kinds of questions that are included in
