Lambano Sanctuary is a non-governmental organization established in 2001 that assists individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

During the period it was established, there were at least 4,1 million South Africans living with HIV/AIDS.

The sanctuary specializes in providing care for children living with HIV. In addition, they provide support for their families by meeting their basic needs.

There are currently four Lambano Sanctuary homes caring for 28 HIV-positive children between the ages of 11 and 22. Antiretroviral (ARV) medication is offered in these homes for the children.

As a result of their experience caring for sick children, the sanctuary will be opening a paediatric medical facility in Gauteng. This facility will be exclusively for children living with HIV.

Lambano Sanctuary relies heavily on donations. LottoStar and The Star Foundation aim to raise R4 Million which will contribute towards the costs of the medical facility.

LottoStar's The Star Foundation raises funds for Lambano Sanctuary

LottoStar in support of The Star Foundation is collaborating with Kfm 94.5 on a 12-month campaign to raise funds for Project Flamingo.

The campaign commenced in October 2022 and will end in November 2023.



 is a non-profit company that strives to improve inclusive cancer care in the South African public health sector by providing the scarce resources needed for breast cancer surgery. Surgeries are done by selfless doctors who volunteer their time, every Saturday.

They avail themselves to patients who need surgery at the following hospitals – Groote Schuur, Tygerberg, Livingstone and Cecilia Makiwane hospitals.

Women diagnosed with breast cancer who have been awaiting surgery for at least 1 year are listed as future recipients of Project Flamingo. This is to ensure that the process is fair.

The waiting list for 2023 consists of 200 women from the Eastern Cape and Western Cape awaiting surgery.

Each surgery costs at least R6,000.

LottoStar’s The Star Foundation will be donating R1,2 Million to Project Flamingo which will go towards all 200 women receiving life-changing surgery.

The individuals and corporations can support Project Flamingo by sponsoring a life-changing surgery, donating pamper packs to newly diagnosed patients or volunteer to help.

LottoStar's The Star Foundation contribute to Project Flamingo's breast cancer surgeries

On Wednesday, 1 June 2022, LottoStar and Kfm 94.5 hosted a 12-hour radiothon to raise money for the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA), a non-profit organization devoted to alleviating hunger among schoolchildren in the Western Cape.


After LottoStar's May Money Madness competition ended with Kfm 94.5, the #FeedingOurFuture radiothon was launched after realizing there were still 14,736 schoolchildren in need of assistance.

The initial goal was to raise R8 million for 14,736 children in 12 hours. However, the support was overwhelming and before midday, we had reached our goal thanks to the generous donations of ordinary citizens, small businesses, large corporations, and charities across the country.

Therefore, the new target of R16 Million was set but by 3pm, we had surpassed the R16 million threshold.

At the 12-hour mark, we had raised a total of R20 Million, making it the biggest amount of money raised in a 12-hour period for a radio station in South Africa.

From the R20 Million that was raised in the radiothon, PSFA will be able to provide food for more than 30,000 schoolchildren for a year, all thanks to your generous donations. By coming together, we made history and a positive impact on the lives of schoolchildren in the Western Cape.

 brings our “May Money Madness” competition with 

, to the Western Cape, from the 9th to the 27th of May 2022. In the 3 weeks of the competition, we will be raising money for the 

Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA)

Buzz Aldrin once said, “If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger”, which is PSFA’s mission. PSFA’s mission is to eradicate childhood hunger by feeding hungry school children across the Western Cape. In its 64 years of operation, 170 educational institutions are on their feeding programme. To date, PSFA has provided over two billion meals to school children across the Western Cape.

Three out of four children go hungry due to poverty constraints and food insecurity, leading to malnutrition. Children who are malnourished are likely to experience illnesses, due to poor immune systems later linked to life-threatening diseases in their adult life.

Hunger affects children’s learning by restraining physical development, holding back their ability to focus and perform, and inhibiting children from attending school.

Children need nourishment so that they may grow and develop. The Peninsula School Feeding Association provides balanced meals, packed with nutrition across all food groups for breakfast and lunch, which enables children to develop their full potential, as well as promoting school attendance as children may focus on their studies, instead of focusing on the fact that they are hungry or where their next meal will come from.

Civilians can get involved by donating to PSFA’s various programmes, such as “Feed A Child for A Month”, “Feed A Child for A Year” and the like. Society at large can join in the fight to curb hunger, with the knowledge that their contribution will make a difference.

The first week of LottoStar’s May Money Madness with Kfm 94.5 wrapped up with a bang. A total of R219,250 was raised for the Peninsula School Feeding Association. Schools that will be benefiting from these proceeds are Ithemba Primary, Observatory Junior and Zonnebloem Boys & Girl Primary.

In the second week, players will be playing Lightning Roulette with one of the Kfm 94.5’s presenters to stand a chance to win a share of R1 Million in cash, daily, for themselves and for the Peninsula School Feeding Association.

To say the second week of the competition was a success would be an understatement. A total of R376,500 was raised for the PSFA. Schools that will be benefiting are Capricorn Primary, Tuscany Glen Primary, Stephen Road Primary and Sunnyside Primary.

We are now in the final week of the May Money Madness competition with Kfm 94.5. Players will be playing Beat the Bomb Deluxe to stand a chance to win a share of R1 Million in cash, daily, for themselves and the Peninsula School Feeding Association.

It’s a wrap from LottoStar’s May Money Madness competition with Kfm 94.5. A total of R451,750 was won by our lucky players and R758,750 was raised for the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) which will feed 1,331 children for a year. Our goal is to raise R8 Million to feed 14,035 schoolchildren for a year, LottoStar will match every rand donated, up to R4 Million.



LOTTOSTAR’S MAY MONEY MADNESS CONTRIBUTES TO HUNGER CAUSE!

 donates R100,000 to creche owner, Tanya van Rooyen, whose house was tragically destroyed on Sunday by a fire.

“Everything burned down within 10 to 15 minutes”, cried Tanya.

During her struggle to open the door, Tanya didn't realize that her house had caught fire when she returned home from work on Sunday. The fire quickly spread to the point of a devastating explosion after she opened the door.

Unfortunately, Tanya was not able to do anything but watch her house burn down with everything inside, leaving her destitute.

Tanya’s tragedy moved us as we listened to her story on 

Tanya's creche is also on the same property as her house and it wasn't badly damaged because her neighbours jumped in and extinguished the fire. Nonetheless, it will remain closed for the remainder of the week because of the amount of smoke inside.

In October last year, Tanya’s creche in Boksburg, made the news when her neighbours acquired two white tigers and kept them in their backyard overlooking the creche. The teachers at the creche got a shock when they looked up and saw a white tiger watching them. This made Tanya reach out to different organizations including 947 for help.

Therefore, when the station decided to do a follow-up on her story, they were met with tragic news. During the radio segment, Jo’burgers called in to offer support to the inconsolable Tanya.

LottoStar’s leading lady, Tasoulla Hurwitz, was also amongst them and gave a contribution of R100,000 to support Tanya.

We hope that the contribution will assist Tanya in rebuilding everything she has lost.

LottoStar donates R100,000 to creche owner following tragedy!

LottoStar donated R60,000 to a 2-year-old burn survivor, Willow. Little Willow got severely burnt under horrific conditions and needs to undergo medical care for the injuries she sustained.


In addition to the R60,000 donation, LottoStar will be contributing vouchers towards little Willow and her family, for the next 12 months which will go towards helping the family with basic necessities.


We came across little Willow’s story on #MomLife, a Facebook community group which is ran by Celeste Loubser, the group aims to empower mothers across the country. With over eighty thousand members, they raise funds to cover medical bills to help moms and women in need of everyday essentials.


Furthermore, for the past 10 years, #MomLife has been raising funds for CANSA and a select of children homes across South Africa.


On Sunday, 7 November 2021, an exclusive event to help raise funds for little Willow took place. The funds raised will go towards her outstanding medical bills for past skin grafts, future laser treatments, reconstructive face surgery, hair transplants and skin procedures.


Thanks to LottoStar, little Willow and her family will be able to pay for medical costs and future procedures with the R60,000 donation.

In the spirit of giving back and changing lives, for the next 3 weeks you will be raising funds for Carte Blanche Making a Difference Trust which will go towards renovating and upgrading paediatric and neonatal units or facilities across South Africa.

Every child’s life is precious, therefore, they have a right to basic health care. However, in South Africa, there are too many kids without access to proper healthcare.

Children from disadvantaged backgrounds have no choice but to wait long periods before receiving adequate health and life-changing procedures which in turn leads to long-term complications. Due to such, children and their families have no choice but to wait up to one and a half years to receive treatment.

The aim of Carte Blanche Making a Difference Trust is to shorten the waiting period of children awaiting life-changing surgeries. In most cases, children wait one and a half years for surgery which results in long-term complications due to lack of facilities or facilities not being in great conditions for use.

Furthermore, Carte Blanche Making a Difference Trust uses the donations to refurbish those facilities and provide new equipment.

There are currently two paediatric admissions or trauma units in South Africa. One is in Sebokeng, in the South of Johannesburg, and the other is in Tygerberg Children’s Hospital, in the Western Cape.

The organization has medical training programmes that are linked with medical universities where graduate doctors train and develop their skills.

South Africa is a country where children have equal rights under the Constitution, but the situations and life experiences they are born into are very unequal. This remains a continuous challenge in our country.Gift of the Givers has stepped in to help.

With little to no funding, these hospitals or clinics located in rural areas are unable to purchase new supplies that are needed. Upon Gift of the Givers organisation visiting these areas, they established that there is a shortage of crucial medical supplies that are needed such as cots, baby formula, wipes, and diapers.

The first week's contributions were dedicated towards food security. With a focus on interventions across various areas such as establishing vegetable gardens in underprivileged areas, food parcels, and supplying hot meals to different care centres.

The second week's contributions were directed towards medical causes. Gift of the Givers has a dedicated team of highly skilled and diverse medical specialists to lend support and assist in disadvantaged areas. They help aid in the distribution of wheelchairs, walking aids and operates a Hearing Testing and Hearing Loss Programme at schools for needy children.

Gift of the Givers Foundation is the largest disaster response organisation in Africa. To unite people, make a real, telling difference by serving mankind for the ‘Greater Good’. Furthermore, they assist the needy, irrespective of race, religion, class, or geographical location.

Furthermore, employing a comprehensive, ad-hoc wheelchair donation programme, that can provide means for mobility upon requests from schools, hospitals, and individuals.

A further focus of intervention includes walking aids for individuals affected by paralysis, amputation, or birth defects. Gift of the Givers also operates a Hearing Testing and Hearing Loss Programme at schools for needy children.

The programme is overseen by Dr. Nadir Kana, who is an Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon, together with Carmen Esterhuizen, who is an Audiologist and Speech Therapist.

SK Khoza – Jelly Beanz
A standing ovation for actor, SK Khoza, who not only graced the Deal or No Deal stage but also raised an impressive R63,750 for 

 – a beacon of hope for children affected by trauma and abuse. Jelly Beanz goes beyond conventional, running crucial programs focused on the healing journey of these children. From therapeutic interventions to abuse awareness initiatives, each aspect is designed to nurture and support these young souls on their path to recovery.
